Not too long ago, it was hard to dismiss the buzz online about Twitter marketing tools. It was believed that Twitter was one of the most effective ways to grow a list and to get folks to order the products you are advertising. Still, how much of a bang for your buck do you get from any of these software tools that were pushed at us to improve our sales figures? Exactly how great is Twitter marketing? This article will examine the case for becoming involved and to determine if it will really repay your time and effort. Investigate the following list of social networks to help you.

I was one of those who was curious to find out if getting a large following on Twitter was going to help my product promotion campaigns and so paid for the tools. I ended up purchasing and joining programs that would get me followers and programs that would basically advertise my products for me. By the time I’d finished, I’d invested in something like eight programs to perform some of the grunt work involved in Twitter marketing.

I purchased a program that would automatically follow people for me in an attempt to get them to follow me back. Next there was the software that would un-follow individuals who were not following me. Getting rid of non-followers meant I could devote my attention on those who might be swayed to follow me. Some of the programs I purchased are not interesting enough to discuss but I will just mention an useful program that auto-Tweeted any blog posts I made whenever they were published. In the beginning, I was truly pleased with the end results after using the programs in combination since they truly delivered on what they promised. But as soon as it appeared that I wasn’t making any money, my initial exuberance was soon squashed. My strategy was to post many blog entries daily and each of them was then sent straight to display on Twitter. Then I found a way to have all the posts done for me automatically, assuming that the more posts I would have the more people who would see them.

Well, let me share my results: Applying this strategy over three years led to almost ten thousand people following me on Twitter. You may be really pleased to gain that number of followers, but there’s more to come. During those three years I had affiliate links to my products on no less than fifteen thousand posts in my Twitter account. My blog posts displaying on Twitter was the only kind of advertising for that blog I did and to find out the effectiveness of Twitter I did not even ping new posts as they were published. Just how ‘good’ it was quickly became plain: after 3 years only two affiliate sales generated $46.74 plus a whopping $9.10 for Adsense. With just 2 – 4 visits daily coming from Twitter, perhaps this is not surprising.

Despite me using programs to make the job more effortless and getting nearly 10,000 followers on Twitter, I still could not turn a realistic profit using Twitter marketing for my blog. At the end of the day I’m now out of pocket for the Twitter programs I invested in because my dollar return was so dismal. So in my view, although there may be good ways to promote on Twitter, investing in the automatic softwares are not the way to go.
